Responsibilities

  • Development of physical layout of protection & control equipment, protection & control logic, elementary, and wiring.
  • Operate specification and procurement of engineered equipment, as well as the development of design scope and cost estimates.
  • Developing, nurturing, and maintaining trusted relationships with senior-level engineering managers and executives with current or prospective clients.
  • Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to key customers; Respond in real-time to technical concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable, articulate manner. 
  • Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
  • Perform/Ensure company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages through customized client checklists.
  • Delegate, plan, prioritize, and review the work of other engineers.
  • Assist in determining schedule and budget requirements.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience with developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages, including AC one-line and three-line diagrams, DC schematics, logic and functional diagrams, panel layouts, interconnection diagrams, relaying equipment specifications and bill of materials (physical design experience in addition to P&C experience is a plus).
  • Performs assignments independently with instruction as to the general results expected and with guidance from Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer on unusual or complex projects. 
  • Provides technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and less experienced engineers. 
  • Confidently and comfortably present technical solutions to key customers, respond in real time to technical, concerns and answer questions in a knowledgeable articulate manner.  
  • Participate in client meetings / job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data. 
  • Desire to take on additional levels of responsibility as additional challenges are presented to the team, and strong potential for future leadership roles.
