Engineering Tech III – Civil Structural

• Apply standard civil codes and techniques for substation project work with a focus on civil design including site layout, grading, storm drainage (retention and/or detention ponds), roads, and environmental (oil containment and SPCC) and governmental permitting requirements. Design may be for both new and retrofits of existing stations.
• The candidate will be responsible to produce design calculations as needed for drainage systems.
• Must have comprehensive skills on developing the design concept for drainage systems in accordance with established standards.
• Must have the ability to analyze and interpret public agencies regulations and procedures.
• Must have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from individual or groups of clients, permitting agencies, and the general public.
• Proficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus.
• The candidate will be responsible for designing foundations using commercially available software such as LPILE.
• Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
• Delegating, planning, prioritizing, and reviewing the work of other engineers, designers, and drafters will be critical.
• Coordinate with other engineering discipline.
• Perform/Ensure company’s Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes are being followed on all design packages.

• AS Degree or 2 years of formal post-high school specialized trade (technical school/certifications).
• 5+ years of experience in civil grading design using AutoCAD Civil3D.
• Experience performing drainage calculations for swale/culvert sizing and retention pond sizing preferred.
• Experience in substation design is preferred.
• Strong analytical and computer skills. Must be able to identify necessary software to complete needed design work.
• Microsoft Office product application.
