Union (IBEW) Substation Control Wireman

The Field Services Wireman displays the ability to follow specific instructions of the Lead Wireman and Relay personnel to the assigned project. The essential function of the position is to perform control wire pulling, wire termination, and relay/control panel construction and installation within substations and electrical facilities.

• Display the aptitudes to read prints, use standard hand and power tools, follow specific work instructions while adhering to all Safety and Human Performance fundamentals.
• Work in electrical substation environment mostly inside control houses.
• Install station battery racks as needed.
• Wires from point-to-point or schematics.
• Perform protection relay panel wiring and install prewired panels.
• Installs electrical components per layout drawings.

• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Perform regular electrical field work both indoors and outdoors.
• Must be able to work in various weather conditions from the heat of summer to the cold of winter.
• Must be willing to travel as required.

HIGHLY DESIRED SKILLS

• Comprehensive knowledge of electricity as it pertains to substation wiring and maintenance work.
• Knowledge of material used in substation construction and maintenance standard practice.
