Power your future with Qualus in our Substation department as a Substation Engineer. Due to continued growth, we are seeking an entry-level Electrical Engineer to work in our Substation department. If you have a bachelor's or higher level degree in electrical engineering, we want to hear from you!

Responsibilities

  • Working on project teams supporting all quality and project management goals.
  • Meeting all project deadlines and supporting the processes and procedures to meet deadlines.
  • Maintaining up-to-date technical skills related to the design of electrical substations for the electric utility power grid through on-the-job work and formal training.
  • Developing drawings and assist in the preparation of design packages using CAD/drafting skills; drawings include:
    • Substation Electrical Arrangement
    • Substation Electrical Sections (Elevations)
    • Substation Electrical Connection Details
    • Substation Below Grade Conduit Plan and Details
    • Substation Cable Trench Plan and Details
    • Substation Equipment Grounding Plan and Details
    • Substation Lightning Protection Plan
    • Substation Outdoor Illumination Plan
    • Substation Detailed Bill of Material
    • Control Building Equipment, Cable Tray, Lighting, Grounding Plans and Section
  • Preparing additional support documentation as needed to assist procurement, construction, and operation/maintenance of systems being designed.
  • Consistently following established design standards and CAD drafting standards while assuring quality, accuracy and completeness.
  • Identifying process improvement ideas and commuting ideas through appropriate management channels.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree in Electrical Engineering, or 4 years of formal post-high school specialized trade from an ABET accredited school.
  • Educational experience directly related to working with [medium to high voltage] electricity.
  • Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and/or MicroStation (a plus).
  • Microsoft Office product application.
