Position Overview

Our Field Service Technicians lead and perform testing, maintenance and repair of low and medium voltage circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, motor control and other electrical apparatus in a shop or field environment.  

Responsibilities

  • Performs testing on low and medium voltage breakers including Megger, Ductor, Hi-Pot, Hi-Current, and Timing tests. 
  • Testing on power transformers including Power Factor, TTR, Insulation Resistance, Winding Resistance 
  • Computer skills would have to include a minimum of Microsoft Word, Excel, & Outlook, as well as software programs designed to interface with the test equipment we use for testing and reporting. 
  • Completes mechanical work and repairs on breakers including wiring, painting, parts replacement 
  • Utilizes and accurately reads meters. 
  • Reading schematics 
  • Reading and plotting curves

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience as a Switchgear/High Voltage Technician. Proficiency with high voltage test equipment as well as knowledge of low and medium voltage test equipment.
  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables. 
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plain and solid geometry and trigonometry.  Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions of practical situations. 
  • Ability to read company manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English. 
  • Education: High School Diploma.
