Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the client as well as engineers, permitting agencies and various other departments to ensure that both the client's and industry standards/practices are being met.
  • Communicate daily with co-workers, supervisors, engineers and other departments by phone, email and/or in-person to ensure all parties are on the same page.
  • Examine supporting documents to develop, compute, and verify specifications for design, such as the configuration of parts, dimensions and construction standards.
  • Review construction standards and confer with engineers and design staff to resolve problems and modify the design.
  • Will need to be able to work with construction crews to monitor quality of work and safety of crews on overhead and underground distribution projects. Need to be well versed in the client's construction standards. Must also be able to fill out daily reports on the progress of each project to the client. Need to be familiar with WMS as all work will be assigned through that system.

Qualifications

  • BS Degree or 4 years of formal post-high school specialized trade from an ABET-accredited school preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License required.
  • 5+ years of utility distribution construction management and/or lineman experience required.
  • Experience and understanding of Underground and Overhead distribution work methods, safety practices, processes, and standards required.
  • Project Management skills OR Line Construction experience required.
  • Knowledge of Databases, Electrical Circuits, Surveying, Permits, Pole Structures, Utilities, Virtualization, or Servers preferred.
  • Good understanding of safety principles and able to assess vendors for adherence to safety protocols.
  • Able to effectively communicate (verbal and written) project status and details to leadership.
  • Able to effectively utilize laptop and/or iPad to access and utilize FPL applications and construction prints.
  • Willingness to learn and operate client-provided programs, systems, and software.
  • Ability and willingness to travel locally up to 100% of the job time.
